Will you need a permit?
You will need a permit from your local authority if the skip is placed on the public highway. Each local authority has different charging rates, Murphy’s Waste can arrange a permit for you. We will pay for the permit plus an administration charge of £5 per permit. This will then be added to the cost of your hire.

What types of skip do we hire and what waste can be disposed of in each size?
We hire 6, 8, 10 and 12 yard skisps. See below recommendations of what can loaded into each size;

  • 6 yard - General waste including wood, concrete, soil and other construction, demolition and builders waste.
  • 8 yard - General waste including wood, concrete, soil and other construction, demolition and builders waste.
  • 10 yard - General waste including wood but excluding heavy materials such as bricks, concrete and soil.
  • 12 yard - General waste including wood but excluding heavy materials such as bricks, concrete and soil.

Note: Small amounts of bricks concrete and soil can be loaded into 10 and 12 yard skips but this should be limited to ensure the collection vehicles are able to lift the skips.

How quickly can you deliver?
This depends on when you order, normally we can deliver next day but if you order before 11:00am we can normally deliver on the same day.

When will you collect?
This will again depend on when you request the collection. Normally this will be next day but we maybe able to collect on the same day. Exceptions are where a local authority permit is in place, we will need to collect the skip prior to expiry of the permit unless the permit is extended. There will be an additional charge to extend a permit.
